This past week, we had a meeting where we discussed about our key findings from what each group member has researched. The key takeaways from our research are listed below:

  • Smart meters in Italy have been successful
  • While the country is socially ready for a shift to cleaner energy, the infrastructure is not ready for it
  • India requires significant investment to meet its growing energy demand and provide access to all citizens
  • COAL à remains the most inefficient and least open to private investment, despite coal being the country’s primary source of fuel
  • High dependence of oil imports à big problem for future state
  • Solar energy collaborative pushed by the state government in partnership with private solar companies have received enthusiastic response from Vizag’s citizens, tapping into a sustainable green energy source for the future

This week: we plan to meet with Professor Darwin to discuss and better understand the current energy structure in Vizag. We want to know the strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and common complaints from the citizens. This meeting will help us determine challenges of the city, government, and citizen. We will also meet as a group with 2 Berkeley students who can share with us the culture of Vizag. This will help us have a better understanding of how the country operates.

Admin Objectives:

  • Create a calendar with deadlines and each individual tasks
