This week the food and water group convened and began to hash out our MVPs and to draw the functionality of the platform we are in the process of creating. At this point, we believe a web based application would be the best platform to use; it is accessible by any web browser so it will not limit citizens if they have an iPhone versus an android or any other type of phone.
We decided to divide our web application into two sections, food and water. Each section will then have 3 key components: Education, Stats, and Best Practices. Under the education components we will address key misconceptions and stress the importance of sanitized water among other issues. The stats section is to help NGOs, the government, as well as individuals obtain data and make informed decisions about water consumption and distribution. Our hope is also to create a forum where best practices and tips can be shared. The platform is meant to be very user friendly and create savings for the individual household as well as enable the city to make smarter decisions in regards to water and food. We are currently still developing but the functionality of our platform is beginning to take shape.
After our meeting with Professor Darwin we took his advice and began to reach out to experts currently working on food and water projects. In addition, we are also reaching out students who attend school in Visag that may be able to offer insights to our developments and projects. We are also currently researching use cases that will be applicable to our solution. Thank you for continuing to pass relevant information and solutions our way. Our next step is debrief from our capstone representative and begin to incorporate what the other groups have been working on, into our own work if applicable.
