The Energy and Pollution Group had a productive week by reviewing the mid-semester presentation and identifying specific action steps. First, Amy and Mischa met scheduled a phone call with one of the judges in India to discuss the business model. During this meeting, they came up with the idea to create a statement of cash flows. This statement will illustrate all of the revenues and costs associated with the project. This model will be completed early this week, so the team can review it before the presentation on Thursday. Second, Trevor began researching the cost structure of BlueMix which will be integrated into the financial model. Third, Trevor and Chaitanya are beginning to code the front-end of our dashboard. Wendy is helping them by designing the layout and the aesthetics. Moreover, there is extensive collaboration because Trevor and Chaitanya will be hosting a hackathon, where everyone on the team will be able to learn basic web development.
Fourth, the team met during our weekly meeting on Friday afternoon. During this meeting, we had a phone call with the founders of Airosense. This group was incredibly helpful by providing us an example dashboard that runs on BlueMix. They even offered to provide us a sensor. We will be in touch with them to help us connecting the sensor to our own personal BlueMix dashboard.
Fifth, the team is working on creating a script during the early part of this week to present to the class on Thursday. We hope to incorporate an emotional part at both the beginning and the end to help the audience understand our product.
Lastly, the team really liked Professor Darwin’s idea about using the appendix slides more appropriately. We will be doing additional research over the next two weeks to lengthen our appendix slides, so we can focus our time on answering more questions.
