Hello All,
In class today we heard from the J&J, United, and Wipro teams. The average scores from the judges were as follows:
- J&J – 3.2
- United – 3.7
- Wipro – 3.7
For the blog today – If you were a group that presented, please synthesize the key takeaways and action items you have going forward. If you were not a group that presented, please comment on what question you are most afraid of getting when you present (i.e. where do you feel like your presentation is currently the weakest or most exposed?).
Have a great evening!
Dan
Fujitsu hasn’t presented yet. But from today’s three presentations, the judges did ask very specific questions and proposed candid comments. For our group, our value capture is definitely not easy to answer since we are very struggling with the idea of whether to charge schools and how to. Since Fujitsu offers schools and higher education startups a platform with student’s information data, we are charging schools and startups based on creating an API for people to grasp information in our platform. But which pricing strategy to choose is one of the big concerns. For example, we though about using AWS’s pricing strategy and use “pay-as-you-click” model combined by other models, but again, it’s not easy to show numbers in great details.
The key takeaways were to have some more data on behavioral studies. We should also be looking at our project with a greater sense of skepticism. Vedika also commented on how we should talk more about customer acquisition. I also want to add the costs associated with Joe and Bob now that they are older. We are waiting on some stats to come in from Steve. I was very proud of our team and think we can do an even better job during our final presentation.
Since I was absent for our first preliminary presentation, it was great to be able to practice presenting again before the final. One key takeaway I got from the judges was that our group can really take advantage of our open source platform to differentiate ourselves from other companies. What we really aim to show the judges is that the Wipro Smart City Platform is doing what other companies haven’t done before by providing a barebones platform, which allows a city to make itself smart incrementally rather than all at once. I believe for the next presentation I can do a better job at really emphasizing this and our focus on partnerships and collaboration. Another takeaway I got from the feedback was that we need to discuss how we plan on getting people to move to these cities.
