Over the past week, we solicited feedback from various different sources to solidify our idea. On Wednesday, Amy got in touch with one of her contacts at PG&E to learn more about the business model that the utility uses as well as its relationship with the government. During lecture on Thursday, we got great feedback from the three judges. At this point, our proposal is implement sensors into commercial businesses to monitor their emissions. Businesses that agree to the sensors will receive a green business sticker that they can use to advertise to their customers. The business model is still being refined this week because the judges stated that cap and trade is a big assumption to make. On Friday we have our weekly meeting. We solidified our focus to be on pollution based of the feedback we got.

On Sunday, we decided to talk our energy consultant Suraj. He gave us great feedback since he has experience working with governments and energy organizations. He advised us to tackle the problem by having our sensors be mandated and enforcement overseen by a citizen oversight board. We will discuss this as a group later this week.

One of the questions that was brought up last week was which platform we are using. We are using BlueMix and we are still debating the exact sensor we will be using.

For this upcoming week, our goals include finalizing the slide deck by Tuesday night. We’ll be doing a practice run-through presentation on Wednesday night. The business majors are meeting on Monday to discuss the benefits of cap and trade. The engineers will also finalize the type of sensors later this week too.
